Some were big and some were chaotic (and some were both!), but we couldn&#8217;t have made it through the year without your support, engagement, and dedication to animals in our community.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to you, we were able to directly serve the animals in our community in the following ways:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2870 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Surgery-pics.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"949\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Surgery-pics.jpg 949w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Surgery-pics-300x99.jpg 300w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Surgery-pics-768x252.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provided 4,322 pets with low-cost surgeries;<\/li>\n<li>Spayed\/neutered 737 unowned cats through our community cats program (these are contributing most to kitten overpopulation);<\/li>\n<li>Gave 1,954 pets microchips, for a better chance of being reunited with their people if ever lost or separated during a disaster;<\/li>\n<li>Ensured 2,443 pets stayed healthy, by providing low-cost vaccines at our Friday drop-in vaccination and microchipping clinic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2874\" src=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Wellnes-Blast.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"952\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Wellnes-Blast.jpg 952w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Wellnes-Blast-300x66.jpg 300w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Wellnes-Blast-768x169.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/>With the help of big-hearted volunteers from our community, Napa Humane held <strong>3 Wellness Clinics<\/strong> to provide 242 pets in low-income families with free health exams, vaccinations, microchipping, treatment for skin &amp; ear infections, flea control, and lots of essential pet supplies. And, nearly every furry companion who wasn\u2019t already spayed or neutered was scheduled for low-cost surgery the week following each Wellness Clinic. (See our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/napahumane\/sets\/72157661372090887?mc_cid=66bae244e7&amp;mc_eid=6114def1f0\">photos<\/a>!)<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not all we did. Last year we also:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2873\" src=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Classroom-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Classroom-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Classroom-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Classroom-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Classroom-1200x800.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Refreshed our website<\/strong>, making it easier to learn about our weekly low-cost vaccine clinic, find tips on adopting a new pet, or make a donation in support of Napa Valley&#8217;s pets. (<a href=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/\">See it here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Taught 1,543 Napa Valley students<\/strong> from kindergarten through 5th grade how to be safe around cats and dogs, and how to be responsible pet owners. We also provided 3,332 students with a free subscription to KIND News to reinforce the humane education topics covered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hired a Development Director<\/strong>, a new position for Napa Humane, to help us raise the money we need to expand our services and reach the most vulnerable and underserved pet populations. (<a href=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/welcome-new-development-director\/\">Learn more<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fielded hundreds of phone calls<\/strong> from people with pet-related behavior problems, providing guidance, support and referrals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2872\" src=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Blast-pic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"796\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Blast-pic.jpg 796w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Blast-pic-300x78.jpg 300w, https:\/\/napahumane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Blast-pic-768x200.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/>Turned our full attention and staff capacity to <strong>supporting the emergency response<\/strong> effort during the Napa Fire Storm in October. We helped transport evacuated dogs between shelters in our mobile unit, provided critical veterinary services at shelters, and shared fire information and pet evacuation resources with community members when that information was otherwise not readily available. We also have been supporting fire recovery, contributing money and services to victims\u2019 animal care needs.
